My family came from Chicago when I was six.  Growing up in Miami Beach, naturally swimming, fishing and spear fishing was part of growing up.  One of my very best friends and constant companion was my dog Rex, a Boxer/Chow mix.  I graduated from Miami Beach High, a “Typhoon,” and under my senior picture was stated “Future Endeavor: Veterinarian.”  I graduated from the University of Florida with my BS degree in chemistry and biology then went on to attend Auburn University Veterinary School, graduating as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Following graduation from veterinary school, I practiced for a short period of time in N.M.B., then volunteered for the U.S. Army and was sent to Korea.  My duties were with the 8th army support command.  Our unit took care of approximately 500 military guard dogs, mostly Shepherds and Dobermans, stationed at surface to air missile sites, army depots and field units.  Many of these dogs were in areas difficult to reach so often times I was transported by helicopter, Raven 123.

I returned home and practiced for three years with doctors Levitt and Southard, then went on to open Greenfield Animal Hospital where we remain dedicated to the medical and wellness care of your pets.

  • Johalis

    GAH's Cat Advocate

Hello!  My name is Johalis, and I am back home at Greenfield Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant and your Cat's Advocate!  I started working at GAH in 2010.  It seems like much longer because I have learned so much and come so far personally.  As a Veterinary Assistant, I help care for and clean your babies, bathe the and feed them, and of course love them while they're here with us!  As your Cat's Advocate, I am always available to answer questions about your feline friends, offer home care suggestions and listen to your concerns.  We recognize our Cat kids are very special and have individual needs to make their lives and veterinary hospital visits less stressful.  During my adventures, I was blessed with my feline baby "Buttercup!"  She completes me!  I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
